FIRST MEETING OF THE SOCIETY FOR RISK ANALYSIS LATIN AMERICA, SRA-LA 2010 – Santiago City, Chile, 17 to 20 August 2010

“El Estado del Análisis de Riesgos en América Latina”

Congreso

The SRA Latin America (www.srala.org) is a regional group of the Society for Risk Analysis (www.sra.org), a US-based academic and scientific society interested in promoting excellence in risk analysis. SRA-LA was formally launched in June 6th 2008, in opportunity of the Second World Congress of the SRA held in Guadalajara, Jalisco State (Mexico). Our mission is to facilitate a dialog between governmental, academic and scientific sectors with a focus on promoting multi- and interdisciplinary, collaborative activities that help building up high quality educational and training opportunities, taking advantage of experiences and expertise in the fields of risk analysis, risk management, and risk communication.

The major goal of this I RM-SRA-LA meeting is to join the expertise of specialists in all risk-related disciplines to help understanding the risks that affect our communities, including environment-related hazards, technological risks, physicochemical and biological threats, nanoparticles, socioeconomics-derived risks, and the potential and real damage capacity of natural threats. Thus, I RM-SRA-LA convokes experts in prevention, assessment, education, mitigation, communication and management of these risks.
